Janet Milongo

Director-Energy, Extractives & Environmental Law

Janet is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a reputable International Development Actor with a special focus in Energy, Extractives and Environmental Law (an area she has widely been involved in consulting work). She is a litigator, arbitrator, professional mediator and legislative drafter. She also has a rich background in Programme Management gained from various Non-Governmental Organizations, United Nations Agencies and Government Commissions in Kenya and the East African region.

She holds a Master’s degree in Energy and Environmental Law from the University of Aberdeen, a postgraduate certificate in International Human Rights Law from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

She is passionate about promoting sustainability in natural resource projects particularly as concerns environment, health, safety and human rights considerations. She promotes her passion through her research work, contract negotiations and drafting, programme advisory services, legislative and literary drafting, among others.
